I paint in search of luminous grace – the light that reminds us life is beautiful.
The places in my paintings aren’t quite real. They’re inner worlds, lit by the inner light my subjects carry – wild florals, atmospheric landscapes, and graceful figures. A woman walking through wildflowers isn’t looking at the mountains in front of her; she’s seeing a sanctuary that exists only inside her. The light is subtle, more felt than seen, and it softens the whole image into something closer to a memory or a haven than a real place.
I build these scenes slowly, through layers of ink, acrylics and oils, until the light feels like it belongs to the subject rather than the scene. And that inner light doesn’t stay still – it reaches outward, touching others and filling the world around them with light and beauty.
How I Got Here
Red Rose with Water Droplets, 2014. Multiple images stacked for increased depth of field.
My path to becoming an artist wasn’t linear. I spent close to twenty years in software engineering – surrounded by logic, structure, and strategy. But in the middle of that world, I began to notice something else: the quiet pull of beauty. It was subtle at first – moments I captured with photography, colors I found myself drawn to, fragments of inspiration I couldn’t explain.
As time went on, I couldn’t ignore the truth: I was craving something more human, more tender, more honest. I realized that the spark I had once felt as a young, hopeful soul, before cynicism crept in, wasn’t gone. It had just been waiting.
Stepping away from engineering wasn’t just a career shift. It was a return to myself. Today, I create from that place of return – where both light and shadow exist, and where art becomes a way to make sense of it all.
The Studio
Right now, my studio is a small corner of my home – a space that moves between canvas, camera, and computer. It’s not always perfect, but it’s where my process really happens.
Working in this cozy, adaptable setup has taught me to stay grounded and resourceful. It’s where life and art intertwine. Someday I dream of a larger studio, but for now this space is filled with light and the quiet joy of doing what I love.
Spring is in the air – and inside you, too. Spring Within is a collection of seven small paintings that bring to life the warmth you carry inside. You close your eyes and look within, and your world comes to bloom around you.
