Sometimes the right painting doesn’t exist yet.

Maybe you fell for a piece that already sold. Maybe you have a wall that’s been waiting a long time for something, and nothing you’ve found is quite it. A commission is how we make that painting together.

What I offer is a piece created for you, in the same voice as everything else I make – layered ink, acrylic, and oil, with light that seems to come from inside the subject rather than falling on it from outside. You shape the subject, the size, the palette, the feeling. I bring the way I see.

What I Paint

  • Florals and botanicals
  • Figures, portraits, and faces
  • Dreamy landscapes
  • Horses, birds, and other animals
  • Atmospheric, semi-abstract pieces built around light and color

When I paint a face, I’m after the feeling of a person more than an exact likeness – soft, luminous, a little dreamlike. If you’re looking for a precise photographic portrait, I’m probably not your artist, and I’d rather tell you that up front than disappoint you later.

A few things I don’t take on: memorial pet portraits, copies of another artist’s work, and pieces that need to match a specific paint chip or fabric swatch. If you’re not sure whether your idea fits, just ask. I’m happy to talk it through.

How It Works

We talk first. Tell me about the space, the size you have in mind, and what pulled you toward my work. A photo of the wall is genuinely useful. If I don’t think I’m the right fit, I’ll say so kindly and point you somewhere better.

You reserve your spot. A 50% deposit holds studio time for you. The rest is due before the piece comes home to you.

I send a sketch. Before any paint goes down, you’ll see a composition sketch or small color study. Two rounds of revisions are included here, which is almost always plenty – this is the easy, low-stakes place to say “could the palette lean warmer, more golds than pinks?” or “could there be a little more sky?”

One look partway through. I’ll send a photo mid-process so you can watch it come together.

Then it’s yours. Final photos for your approval, varnish, and delivery. If you’re local to Las Vegas, I’m glad to bring it to you in person.

Timeline

Most commissions take 8 to 12 weeks from deposit to delivery. Oil asks for patience – the paint needs to cure properly before it can be varnished, and I’d rather give you something truly finished than something rushed. If you’re working toward a birthday or a holiday, tell me early and I’ll be honest about whether I can get there.

Investment

Commission pricing follows the same structure as my available originals, plus 20%. That covers the extra care a custom piece asks for – the conversation, the sketch stage, the revisions.

Every piece arrives ready to hang, with a certificate of authenticity. Shipping within the continental US is included. Framing is available if you’d like it.

Good to Know

A few practical things, so there are no surprises:

  • The deposit is non-refundable once I begin, since it’s holding time I’ve set aside for you.
  • Bigger changes belong at the sketch stage. Once I’m painting, I can adjust color or small details, but the composition is set.
  • In the rare case a piece isn’t right and we can’t find our way to it, I keep the deposit and the painting, and you’re free of the balance. No hard feelings.
  • I keep copyright and love to share finished work online. If you’d rather I keep yours private, just tell me.
  • Any reference photos you send should be your own, or clearly free to use.
